Duda's intention at the gathering, formally called the Summit on Peace in Ukraine, is to highlight to geographically distant nations the scale of the Russian threat, the Polish head of state said, adding that it endangers not only Europe and Ukraine's neighbors but the entire world.

Duda stressed the urgency of halting Russia's invasion of Ukraine, labeling it Poland's foremost international policy objective.

He criticized Russia's demands on Ukraine as "staggering" and "unfounded territorial claims," accusing President Vladimir Putin of displaying Russia's brutal imperialism to the international community.

The Polish President expressed hope that the conference would serve as proof to the free world of the need to support Ukraine against Russian imperialism.

Duda underscored the importance of a firm stance from the international community in curbing Russian actions and suggested that China's absence at the summit should not detract from its significance as a platform for dialogue on easing the conflict in Ukraine.

The peace summit, initiated by Ukraine and hosted in Bürgenstock near Lucerne, Switzerland, is set to convene representatives from approximately 100 countries and international organizations over the weekend.
