The situation is growing increasingly difficult around the city of Chasiv Yar as Ukrainian troops continue to defend against a superior enemy in terms of manpower and equipment.

According to an analysis by the Deep State portal, Russian forces managed to advance over a kilometer on the eastern outskirts of Chasiv Yar within the last day, pushing west of Avdiivka as well.

Russia’s tactical objective remains unchanged: the complete capture of the Donbas region. Despite suffering significant losses, the Russian forces continue to replenish their forces, notes military expert Pavlo Lokiychuk. He highlights that in 2022, Ukraine faced well-trained Russian soldiers, of whom only about 10% remain, according to his estimates.

According to reports, the fighting is now primarily carried out by Russians mobilized in 2022 and 2023, who have since become experienced soldiers.
