The Ukrainian General Staff confirmed that the airbase was the target of the attack.

Anna Łabuszewska, a journalist for Tygodnik Powszechny and a long-time expert at the Centre for Eastern Studies, reported via social media about the nighttime drone strike in Lipetsk (western Russia), highlighting that the air raid alarm lasted six hours and that a fire erupted at the military airfield.

According to the Information Radio Agency (IAR), the strike hit a storage of guided aerial bombs and other facilities. Further Russian losses are still being assessed, but it's known that Russian multi-role bombers were stationed at the base.

This marks the most recent in a string of effective Ukrainian drone strikes targeting Russian airbases far inside Russian borders. During a recent assault on the Morozovsk base on Saturday, Ukrainian forces succeeded in destroying a Su-34 bomber, as reported by IAR.
