Ukraine downs three missiles, 25 drones launched by Russia: military

Ukraine's air force said it shot down three of five missiles and 25 of 26 drones launched by Russia in an overnight attack on Tuesday.

Ukrainian Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk said on the Telegram messaging service that the country's air defence forces "intercepted a Russian Iskander-K cruise missile, two Kh-59 guided air missiles, and 25 Shahed-131/136 one-way attack drones."

Oleshchuk added that the Russians attacked Ukraine using two Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles, an Iskander-K cruise missile, and Kh-59 guided air missiles, "as well as 26 attack UAVs of the Shahed type," state news agency Ukrinform reported.

"As a result of joint efforts by Ukraine’s aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, mobile fire groups, and e-warfare capabilities, 28 air targets have been taken down, including an Iskander-K missile, two Kh-59 missiles, and 25 Shahed-131/136 drones over the Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Kirovohrad, Sumy and Chernihiv regions," Oleshchuk said, as cited by Ukrinform.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, starting the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War II.

Tuesday is day 909 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
