"The escalation in the Middle East is something that was expected," said Bartłomiej Kot, an international relations scholar and Program Director of the Warsaw Security Forum, in an interview with Polish Radio.
"There has been talk that the Americans are doing everything they can to prevent further escalation in the region, offering several peace plans to Israel concerning Gaza. But now the situation has expanded beyond Gaza. Western countries are definitely making efforts to de-escalate the situation," he added.
According to Kot, the escalating conflict in the Middle East could impact Ukraine, as Hezbollah has vowed to respond to Israeli actions by targeting Israeli forces near Avivim and the town of Metula, located along the Lebanese-Israeli border.
Bartłomiej Kot will be one of the panelists at the Warsaw Security Forum, organized by the Kazimierz Pułaski Foundation, which begins today.
