53% of Poles in favour of admitting Ukraine war refugees: survey

Fifty-three percent of Poles are in favour of accepting refugees from war-torn Ukraine, according to a new survey—a decrease of 41 percentage points from the first such study in March 2022.

Meanwhile, 67 percent of respondents believe that Polish authorities should send Ukrainian men of military age back to Ukraine, while 22 percent oppose the idea, the study by pollster CBOS found.]

The survey was carried out between September 12 and 22 on a sample of 941 respondents, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

The study also revealed that 51 percent of Poles are worried about the possibility of Russia using nuclear weapons during its ongoing invasion of Ukraine, the PAP news agency reported.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, starting the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War II.

Thursday is day 960 of Russia's war on Ukraine.
