“Poland supports Ukraine militarily, while Switzerland, due to its neutrality, provides economic and humanitarian assistance. However, what is most important is that both Poland and Switzerland have an absolutely clear political stance on this matter,” emphasized the President of Poland during the meeting with Viola Amherd.
Andrzej Duda also expressed hope for a peaceful resolution to the conflict that would restore the primacy of international law and secure a place for Ukraine at the negotiating table.
During the discussions, they also addressed the issues of rebuilding Ukraine after the war and ensuring its security.
The President of Poland thanked Switzerland for organizing the peace conference in June and for the additional tranche of Swiss funds for Poland.
President Duda and President Amherd also discussed Poland’s presidency in the EU Council and Switzerland’s negotiations with the European Union.
Additionally, they addressed cooperation in the energy sector, particularly regarding nuclear energy and energy transformation.
The President of Switzerland arrived in Poland on Thursday for an official two-day visit. On Friday, she will meet with the speakers of the Sejm and Senate, Szymon Hołownia and Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, and lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
