The attack reportedly damaged two vessels, with local authorities initially claiming that a Ukrainian A-22 Foxbat drone had been intercepted by Russian air defenses. However, videos circulating online confirm the drones successfully reached their targets, flying over 1,500 kilometers to hit the port city on Russia’s Caucasus coast.

Russian media reported that a 16-year-old girl was injured in the attack. Sources from Ukrainska Pravda indicated that HUR conducted the strike, which likely impacted one of the Caspian Fleet's missile boats, either the "Tatarstan" or "Dagestan," and another smaller vessel. The presence of the drones also disrupted operations at Makhachkala Airport.

This strike follows another Ukrainian drone attack last week, which targeted a special services school in Gudermes, Chechnya. These recent incidents reflect an escalation in Ukraine’s use of drones to target strategic locations deep within Russia’s Caucasus region.
