"Due to the morning shelling and the implementation of emergency power shutdowns in the Lviv region, 523,000 subscribers remain without electricity," said Maksym Kozytskyi, the head of the Lviv regional administration near the Polish border. The official confirmed that Russian forces struck energy facilities in the area.
In the Volyn region, also bordering Poland, 215,000 consumers are without power. Local authorities report difficulties with water and heating supplies as well.
The Rivne region is experiencing similar issues with electricity and water supplies, leading to the closure of educational institutions. "Over 280,000 consumers are without power. There are problems with water. Schools in Rivne and nearby areas are operating remotely," said Andriy Koval, head of the regional military administration.
One person was injured due to shelling in the southern Odesa region. Reports of damage to critical infrastructure also emerged from the Khmelnytskyi, Chernivtsi, Sumy, Vinnytsia, and Zhytomyr regions.
Russia launches massive attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure
Russia has initiated a large-scale attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko announced. Explosions have been reported in several cities. Emergency power outages have been implemented across Ukraine as a result of attacks on power plants.
At dawn, Ukrainian air forces issued a nationwide air raid alert due to missile threats. In recent days, Russia has conducted approximately 1,500 air raids on Ukraine, impacting about half of the country's regions. The air force issued further warnings about missiles and drones heading toward Kyiv, Rivne, Vinnytsia, Kropyvnytskyi, and Mykolaiv.
