Poland's Tusk, Ukraine's Zelensky discuss Kyiv's EU path

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky have spoken on the phone to discuss Kyiv's EU integration prospects and ways to end Moscow's ongoing invasion, according to reports on Tuesday.

"I spoke with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk; I thanked him for the unwavering support of friendly Poland and the implementation of the new military assistance package," Zelensky wrote on the X social media platform.

"We discussed Ukraine’s progress on its European integration path and the priorities of Poland’s six-month EU Council Presidency, which begins in January," he added.

Zelensky also said that he and Tusk "agreed to exchange visits in the near future to better coordinate our joint actions."

The Polish government confirmed that the conversation took place but did not immediately provide any details, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.

Russia invaded Ukraine by land, air and sea on February 24, 2022, starting the largest military conflict in Europe since World War II.

Tuesday is day 1,021 of Russia's war on Ukraine.
