The number of Russian attacks on the Ukrainian front has declined, with approximately 100 daily strikes reported in recent days – the lowest level in more than six months, Ukrainian military officials said.

The Ukrainian General Staff reported 85 combat engagements with Russian forces in the past 24 hours, a significant decrease compared to twice that level a month ago.

Analysts attribute the drop partly to Russia potentially exhausting its offensive capabilities after prolonged, intensified attacks in the Donbas region.

“Unusually warm winter conditions have also played a role,” a military spokesperson noted. The lack of frost has rendered many ground roads in the steppe areas impassable, while frequent fog has hampered drone operations, limiting the enemy’s reconnaissance and targeting capabilities.

In addition to these factors, Ukrainian experts believe that Russian forces may soon face a personnel shortage after enduring significant losses over months of offensive operations.

The Ukrainian military itself is feeling the strain. According to press reports, Ukrainian command ordered the transfer of 50,000 soldiers from other service branches to the infantry in January to bolster frontline defenses.
