Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski cautioned on Thursday that Ukraine's "severe winter" could have an impact on Poland. This comes after an interior ministry official's comments earlier in the week suggesting that there might be "a large influx of Ukrainians" in the autumn and winter.
Over half of Ukraine's power generation capacity has been lost since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion. As winter approaches, Moscow has again stepped up attacks on key infrastructure, putting Ukrainians at risk of losing their power and heating.
"This winter could be tough for Ukraine, with consequences for us," Sikorski told broadcaster TVN as cited by notesfrompoland.com website. "We are doing what we can to help Ukraine, and other European countries are doing the same," he added.
