Volodymyr Zelensky told Japanese broadcaster NHK that "strengthening the Ukrainian army, primarily with support from the U.S., as well as international diplomatic pressure on Russia, are the three components that will bring the conflict to a just resolution."
"I have entrusted this task to the presidential administration and diplomatic teams. The plan will be ready by the end of November," said Ukraine’s President.
According to the PAP agency, Kyiv is set to start detailed discussions on, among others: the territorial integrity of Ukraine to develop an action plan for peace.
In his comments on the June summit in Switzerland, Zelensky mentioned the absence of China. "We cannot compel them to participate in such endeavors," he said, expressing his interest in "understanding China's position and signals."
The Ukrainian President also expressed readiness to engage in dialogue with Beijing on the issue and to leverage connections between EU countries and Asian countries, urging them to take part in the peace process.
Zelenky also praised Japan for providing much-needed aid since the invasion began, saying: "They were the first non-NATO country to sign a security cooperation agreement with Ukraine."
