The writer-translator duo won the prestigious award for Tokarczuk’s The Books of Jacob, a 900-page historical epic which was published last year in France and in 2014 in Poland.
Last year, Tokarczuk’s Flights, which first appeared in Poland in 2007 under its Polish title Bieguni, won the Man Booker International Prize, an international literary award hosted in Britain.
Tokarczuk, 57, is among the most popular and critically acclaimed Polish writers. Some of her other books also available in English translations are Drive Your Plow Over The Bones Of The Dead, Primeval and Other Times and House of Day, House of Night.
