Since September 2015, Graham Dixon has been Head of Radio at the European Broadcasting Union in Geneva, having previously worked as Managing Editor of BBC Radio 3, after holding various editorial and production positions within BBC Radio. For some years before leaving the BBC, Graham also took the lead on diversity issues for BBC Radio. His long-standing passion for developing radio as a contemporary medium is evidenced by the numerous obsolete devices he had bought over the years, and which now gather dust. Central to his thinking as EBU Head of Radio are the societal benefits which stem from Public Service Media.
His academic studies have resulted in a doctorate on Italian Baroque music (University of Durham) and, more recently, a master's degree with a dissertation on the emergence of Buddhism in ancient India (University of Wales). Perhaps of more relevance to the modern media world, Graham has also completed an MBA with distinction, writing his dissertation on aligning radio organizations to achieve multiplatform delivery – the challenge continues. He is a Fellow of the Royal Asiatic Society and the Royal Society of Arts.
