The Institute of National Remembrance (IPN), under the direction of right-wing PiS presidential candidate Karol Nawrocki, is under scrutiny after being linked to a controversial event sponsored by the openly neo-fascist and anti-Semitic website nacjonalista.pl, as reported by the Polish daily Rzeczpospolita.

The event, held on February 16 at the Legia Fight Club in Warsaw, featured boxing competitions and an IPN exhibition on the Home Army and anti-communist underground soldiers.

While IPN was an official co-organizer, it shared event sponsorship with several sites, including the nationalist portal, nacjonalista.pl, which has ties to the extremist National Rebirth of Poland party.

Rzeczpospolita highlights the portal's association with the skinhead subculture, having been active since 2005 and promoting controversial content.

In response, IPN spokesman Rafał Leśkiewicz clarified that the institution did not select the media patrons for the event, stating that the IPN supported the event by providing services such as medical support and an exhibition on Jan Rodowicz, a prominent Home Army soldier.

Nawrocki denies misuse of WW2 Museum hotel rooms amid ongoing investigation

In relation to the investigation launched by the District Prosecutor's Office in Gdańsk regarding abuse of power at the Museum of the Second World War, Karol Nawrocki, a presidential candidate and former director of the institution (from 2017 to 2021), stated that he has evidence proving he did not stay in a hotel room for 200 days, and the only time he used such accommodations was during quarantine due to Covid-19.
