News of the upcoming face-off between Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski, the leading candidate in the polls, and runner-up Karol Nawrocki, head of the Institute of National Remembrance, drew widespread media attention in Poland on Wednesday.

Stanowski, a 42-year-old sports journalist who has described his own campaign as more satirical than serious, quickly responded with a tongue-in-cheek post on social media.

"I invite all candidates to a debate in 15 minutes by the parcel locker on Wołoska Street," he wrote on X, referencing a location in Warsaw's Mokotów district.

He added sarcastically that the other contenders were "too afraid" to accept his challenge.

The debate between Trzaskowski and Nawrocki is scheduled for Friday at 8 p.m. Warsaw time.
