The Gdańsk District Prosecutor's Office will conduct an initial review of the case to determine whether any criminal acts occurred, specifically regarding abuse of office for personal or financial gain.

The investigation focuses on the Deluxe apartment at the museum, which Nawrocki used for over six months, free of charge, from 2017 to 2021. According to reports by Gazeta Wyborcza, Nawrocki, while director of the museum, reserved 197 nights in the Deluxe apartment in the museum's hotel complex between 2020 and 2021.

Karol Nawrocki, now a PiS-supported candidate for president, claimed he only stayed during two quarantine periods and never longer than 10 days at a time.

Nawrocki's controversy over use of apartment belonging to the Museum

Journalists Wojciech Czuchnowski and Krzysztof Katka revealed that Nawrocki used a key rather than an ID card, leaving no trace in the system. Informants shared that the apartment, which was used for personal belongings like suits and books, was jokingly referred to as "The Love Boat" among museum staff - an allusion to the American TV show.

Nawrocki, officially listed as "independent" in his presidential campaign, has been called on by members of the ruling Civic Coalition (KO) to settle a bill of over 120,000 PLN (around 28,500 USD) for his use of the museum’s apartment.
