The event, related to Hołownia's presidential campaign, took place last Wednesday at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Białystok, a city in eastern Poland, located over 80 km from the Belarusian border and Hołownia's hometown.
Although Witold K. has been charged by the prosecutor’s office, TVN24 reporters have revealed that, both under the previous and current government, the businessman has regularly met with Polish politicians.
Hołownia responds to the controversy
In a comment to TVN24, Speaker Hołownia stated that he had not received any warnings from the security services and had "no idea" that there were any suspicions surrounding Witold K. The politician also called for the immediate clarification of the matter.
Last week on Wednesday, Witold K., who holds the position of vice president of one of Poland's largest business organizations, sat next to the candidate of the Polska 2050 party and spoke during the meeting. Furthermore, Hołownia himself shook K.'s hand in front of the cameras.
Ongoing investigation into Witold K.
Witold K. has been under investigation for six years, and since 2018, he has been subject to a probe conducted by Poland's Internal Security Agency (ABW) regarding alleged espionage, which is set to conclude in November 2024, according to TVN24.
Hołownia's campaign team stated that the Speaker had no knowledge of the situation. "Nor did those responsible for organizing his trip to Podlasie within the campaign team." Yesterday, the details of the case were presented in the program "Czarno na białym" on TVN24.
