Polish interior minister, EU officials discuss migration

Poland’s interior minister has discussed issues including migration policy at a meeting with senior EU officials visiting Warsaw, a news agency reported on Monday, citing the Polish government.

During the meeting, Poland’s Interior and Administration Minister Mariusz Kamiński, European Commission Vice President Margaritis Schinas and Commissioner for Home Affairs Ylva Johansson talked about challenges including planned changes to the European Union’s asylum and migration system, according to Polish state news agency PAP.

The talks also focused on the protection of the EU's borders and the work of the bloc’s Frontex border agency, PAP reported, citing Poland’s interior and administration ministry.

The visit by the senior EU officials took place as the European Commission plans to unveil a new “migration and asylum pact” in the first quarter of this year, the Polish news agency said.
