“What the Russians are doing in Ukraine right now, which is a deliberate destruction of ... infrastructure, related to the availability of water, electricity for ordinary citizens, shows the nature of this country and the nature of this war,” Kamiński said in an interview with private broadcaster RMF FM on Saturday.
According to Kamiński, Moscow’s actions “are an attempt to break the morale of the Ukrainian people and sow fear”. He added that this could result in the fact that in “winter conditions the existence of an ordinary (Ukrainian) citizen could be extremely difficult.”
Asked whether Poland would be able to help another million Ukrainian refugees in the coming months, he replied that Poland already has “very much tested all practical procedures related to accepting refugees from Ukraine.”
“As a state, we are prepared, and we will certainly do everything to provide effective assistance to people fleeing from rockets, from death, from hunger, from cold. This is our human duty, and we will do everything to make sure that anyone who needs help gets that help,” Kamiński assured.
Sunday is the 270th day of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. According to estimates, Poland is now home to some 1.3 million Ukrainian war refugees.
