Speaking from the frigate ORP Pułaski in the port of Gdynia, Duda highlighted "the continuous monitoring" of not only the Baltic Sea but also the broader "European maritime and oceanic expanse," including the Mediterranean, North Sea, and waters around Norway and the British Isles.
"Our navy stands ready to respond appropriately alongside allied units," Duda affirmed.
The president emphasized the active engagement of allied forces and the Polish navy in maintaining security.
"Ongoing maritime activities, observations, and operational exercises are conducted by our sailors and allied units at sea, demonstrating our steadfast vigilance and commitment," Duda said in Gdynia.
He applauded ongoing naval modernization efforts, noting recent progress in acquiring new vessels.
"Our navy's modernization is gaining momentum," Duda stated, and confirmed the planned construction of three new vessels.
Anticipating further enhancements, the Polish president disclosed plans for collaboration with the UK on the Swordfish frigate program and the potential acquisition of submarines, state news agency PAP reported.
The developments come amid ongoing exercises by the Russian navy in the Baltic Sea, involving an extensive deployment of personnel, ships and aircraft.
