The initiative, overseen by Chief of General Staff Wiesław Kukuła, will see soldiers equipped with advanced gear, including boots, uniforms, ballistic shields, helmets, and weapon sights. "The current state of individual equipment leaves much to be desired," Michał Sitarski, a retired lieutenant colonel and consultant to the Polish Army General Staff, told public broadcaster Polish Radio.
Sitarski highlighted the comprehensive nature of the program: "In a military context, we're talking about everything from socks through uniform, armor, ballistic shields, ending with equipment such as night vision devices or additional equipment mounted on individual weapons."
The operation aims to address long-standing deficiencies in the army's provisioning of personal gear, exacerbated by a historical focus on larger equipment purchases at the expense of the individual soldier's needs, according to Sitarski.
