The new principles regarding work during heatwaves will be presented on Tuesday by the Minister of Family, Labour, and Social Policy, Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk, along with the Chief Labour Inspector, Marcin Stanecki.
Since the current regulations mainly address work in low temperatures, the missing gap for comprehensive regulations on working in high temperatures has been filled.

“These will not yet be new regulations, as we won’t manage that by the end of the summer, but it will be a set of recommendations,” confirmed Deputy Minister of Family, Sebastian Gajewski, on Polish Radio 24.

Since the current regulations mainly address work in low temperatures, the missing gap for comprehensive regulations on working in high temperatures has been filled.

Deputy Minister Gajewski stated that the implementation of the new law will only be possible in the future, but recommendations for employers will now be announced.

These will help create good working conditions in high temperatures, including measures like reducing working hours during heatwaves, providing access to air-conditioned rooms during work, or scheduling additional breaks.

Dziennik Gazeta Prawna (DGP) reports that the ministry is reviewing how other countries handle work regulations during heatwaves.

One proposal includes sending employees home if workplace temperatures surpass a set limit, with additional options for cooling breaks, shortened work hours, or air-conditioned rest areas.

The Ministry of Family, Labour, and Social Policy will present a guide for employers on their obligations related to working in high temperatures, as well as the results of projects on the thermal burdens on workers, including a cooling vest, reports DGP.
