“We want more people to be able to visit this institution and learn about the uprising under improved conditions. The ambitious program you started, which lacked funding, must be realized as soon as possible,” said Prime Minister Tusk, as reported by PAP and cited by TVN24.
The Warsaw Rising Museum celebrated its 20th birthday on July 31st - and Radio Poland's Marcin Matuszewski has the details on its history and mission in his audio report - available in our player (red button above and on the left).
“Memory is invaluable, and the tribute we owe is also invaluable in creating a better history,” added the head of the Polish government.
The design competition for the museum's expansion was concluded before the pandemic, in 2018. The expansion is estimated to take around 3.5 years.
"Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki had promised funds for the museum's expansion at the beginning of 2023, but nothing materialized," reports the portal warszawa.wyborcza.pl. Whether a similar outcome will occur with Tusk's promise remains to be seen, as the 100 million PLN is expected to be transferred to the museum within a few months.
