In Sunday's quarter-finals the young Polish talent defeated Puerto Rican Ashleyann Lozada Motta by unanimous referees' decision.

As two bronze medals are awarded to the defeated at this stage in boxing at the Summer Games - the Polish boxer is already certain of a medal regardless of the semi-final result! This will be the first Olympic medal in Polish boxing since 1992, when Wojciech Bartnik won bronze in Barcelona.

This success brings Poland's medal tally to five - with as many as four of them won by the Polish women, no less!

Now, on Wednesday the high-flying Szeremeta will face Filipino Nesthy Petecio in the semi-finals. The experienced 32-year-old boxer will be a tough nut to crack as she has won a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics and a gold medal at the 2019 World Championships.

Still, sky seems to be the limit now for the 2003-born Pole. In her Sunday's quarter-final - Szeremeta dominated from the start, with lightning-speed movement and precise blows. The referees had no doubts - and the final score was 5-0 for the Pole (30:27, 30:27, 30:27, 30:27, 29:28).

Previously, in the 1/16 finals Szeremeta defeated Venezuelan Omailyn Alcala 4-1, and in the 1/8 she defeated Australia's Tina Rahimi 5-0.

The other Pole competing in women's boxing, Elżbieta Wójcik, was unable to follow in Szeremeta's footsteps, though. In the quarter-finals of the 75 kg category, she lost to Panama's Atheyna Bylon 2:3 (28:29, 28:29, 29:28, 30:27, 28:29).
