He will join the government and resign from his position as an MEP, stated Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
The government representative will oversee issues pertaining to flood recovery.

Donald Tusk remarked during the morning crisis meeting, "This will involve a significant amount of work, surpassing what individual ministries can handle and necessitating coordination across multiple levels."

Details about the newly appointed position were announced during the flood response meeting in Nowa Sól, located in the Lubuskie Voivodeship of western Poland. Residents in the area are preparing for the flood wave to pass through. The gathering is still ongoing.
