Duda, who shared details before departing for the COP29 climate conference in Azerbaijan, emphasized that while no date has been set, both leaders are committed to strengthening ties between Poland and the United States. Trump also extended Independence Day greetings to Poland, expressing gratitude for the Polish-American community’s support in the recent U.S. elections.

Duda highlighted that one agenda item will be Poland’s upcoming presidency of the European Union, beginning January 1, 2024. “We agreed that enhancing EU-U.S. relations will be a priority, and we want to discuss this topic further with President-elect Trump,” Duda said.

The conversation between the two leaders also touched on the Three Seas Initiative Summit, which is set to take place in Warsaw. “We’ll discuss the situation in Ukraine, which Trump specifically asked me about, along with enhancing U.S.-Poland cooperation,” Duda noted.

At COP29, Duda plans to engage in discussions about climate protection and the adoption of new technologies, with a particular focus on hydrogen energy for environmental and green energy purposes. His visit will include a bilateral meeting with Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev to discuss ongoing energy collaboration.

The COP29 UN climate summit, taking place in Baku from November 11–22, is organized under the theme “In Solidarity for a Green World.” The event, an annual gathering under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), will address global efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote climate initiatives.
