The council will convene in Warsaw on Monday, February 24, following a decision by President Andrzej Duda, state news agency PAP reported.

Duda said on Tuesday that he was convening the National Security Council to discuss the outcomes of upcoming talks in Kyiv between Ukrainian officials and US President Donald Trump's special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, Gen. Keith Kellogg.

Speaking after his meeting with Kellogg in Warsaw on Tuesday, Duda told reporters that he had shared his assessment of the situation in Ukraine and Russia’s stance.

Duda on Friday met with US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth in the Polish capital, expressing support for Washington’s push to increase defence spending among NATO members.

The National Security Council advises the president and includes senior officials such as the Speakers of both houses of parliament, the prime minister, the defence, interior and foreign ministers, and prominent politicians from both the government and opposition.

The head of the president’s National Security Bureau (BBN) is also a member of the National Security Council (RBN).
