"Europe must be present in peace talks on Ukraine," says Polish PM after meeting with EU Council chief

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stressed after conversation with Costa that Europe must be present in peace negotiations on Ukraine, as Kyiv also expects its involvement.

António Costa announced that the upcoming European Council summit on March 6 will focus on strengthening Ukraine’s position in peace talks and enhancing European security.

Tusk emphasized the need for greater European unity against Russia and called for EU funding for Poland’s Eastern Shield defense initiative.

The EU has adopted new sanctions against Russia, and Costa reaffirmed that Europe will continue to support Ukraine not only during the war but also in future peace negotiations, reconstruction, and EU accession.

Ahead of the March 6 summit, Costa is consulting with European leaders, while French President Emmanuel Macron has reported to EU leaders on his talks with U.S. President Donald Trump about increasing Europe’s role in ensuring Ukraine’s security.

„I am convinced that the European Union will stand truly united on Ukraine. I hope that on 6 March, we will both reinforce Ukraine in its defence against Russia and weaken the aggressor,” said the head of Polish gevernment after the meeting with the President of the European Council António Costa.

UPDATE: PM Tusk on foreign gangs in Poland and his skiing injury

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that he received information from the Minister of the Interior and Administration, Coordinator of Special Services Tomasz Siemoniak about actions taken against foreign gangs. He emphasized that numerous arrests had been made and that it is now time for deportations.

The head of the Polish government also shared news about an injury he sustained over the weekend while skiing.

The politician, who was planning to teach his grandchildren how to ski, will now need crutches to move around but stated that the injury will not affect his official duties. PM Tusk concluded by advising those on vacation to be cautious on the slopes.
