The Engineering Development Agreement (EDA) was signed at the Prime Minister’s Office in Warsaw by Tusk and US Energy Secretary Chris Wright.
“Today, our cooperation has gained new momentum,” Tusk said after discussing Polish-US energy collaboration with Wright.
He added that Poland had secured “a better agreement from the standpoint of Polish interests,” enhancing the project’s certainty and guarantees.
Under the agreement, construction is due to start within three years, with the plant scheduled to enter service in 2036.
The facility will be located at the Lubiatowo-Kopalino site on Poland’s Baltic coast, state news agency PAP reported.
Poland has allocated over PLN 60 billion (about EUR 14 billion) to finance the project.
Tusk said that “Polish–American cooperation in nuclear energy is stronger than ever” and vowed that “this will not be our only investment.”
