Polish President Andrzej Duda said on Monday he had assured Czech counterpart Petr Pavel that Poland’s president-elect Karol Nawrocki will sustain Warsaw’s “close cooperation” with Prague after his August inauguration.
Speaking at a joint news conference in the Czech capital, Duda said the pair discussed completing high-speed rail links, modernizing conventional lines, and advancing the E3 and D11 road corridors that connect the two EU allies.
They also focused on support for Kyiv. Duda thanked Pavel for Prague’s ammunition initiative, which he called “enormous help for Ukraine”, and stressed that “Russian imperialism must be stopped” so President Vladimir Putin cannot win the war.
Both leaders saw a “major role” for the European Union in mobilizing members to upgrade armed forces and expand defense industries so the bloc can become “as self-sufficient as possible,” Duda added.
