Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński warned that thousands of investors could wake up without their life savings, blaming President Karol Nawrocki and the opposition Law and Justice (PiS) party for blocking crypto market regulations.

Finance Minister Andrzej Domański noted that Nawrocki had twice vetoed legislation that would have extended the powers of Poland's financial watchdog KNF to cover firms operating in the country under foreign licences.

Earlier, PiS MEP Waldemar Buda accused prosecutors and security services of inaction over Zondacrypto's troubles.

Also, far-right Confederation party leader Sławomir Mentzen challenged the government's narrative, arguing that the vetoed law "would have made no difference" because Zondacrypto is registered in Estonia and would have been exempt from the new rules until at least June.

Meanwhile, the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF) confirmed to public broadcaster Polish Radio it has no regulatory jurisdiction over cryptocurrency exchanges.

Reports of massive drop in Bitcoin reserves

Zondacrypto is facing questions over its financial stability after reports of a 99-percent drop in its Bitcoin reserves.

Users say they have been unable to withdraw funds and several sports clubs sponsored by the platform allegedly have not received payments for months.

The company's CEO, Przemysław Kral, has denied insolvency claims, describing the withdrawal difficulties as temporary technical issues.
