Poland receives new batch of South Korean K2 tanks

Poland has received another batch of South Korean-made K2 tanks, Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz has announced.

Kosiniak-Kamysz wrote on X: "28 K2 tanks have just arrived in Poland and will join the 16th Mechanised Division," based in the Warmia-Mazury region in north-eastern Poland.

The delivery is part of a contract signed on 1 August 2025 for K2 and K2PL tanks — the latter a Polish-assembled variant incorporating locally made components.

Kosiniak-Kamysz said future shipments would include more of the K2PL version, which he described as boosting Poland's domestic production capacity.

Under the deal, Poland is to receive 180 K2 tanks in total: 117 built by South Korea's Hyundai Rotem, with the remainder produced in Poland by the state-owned Polish Armaments Group, including at the Bumar-Łabędy plant in Gliwice.

The contract follows an earlier 2022 agreement under which Poland ordered 1,000 K2 tanks from South Korea.
