Warsaw plans to buy a hi-tech system to detect and classify unmanned aircraft, aiming to improve its ability to identify potential threats and respond to drone incidents, according to media reports.

The city's security centre wants to deploy the system this year at a cost of around PLN 1 million (EUR 230,000, USD 270,000), the Gazeta Wyborcza newspaper has reported.
Eighty percent of the cost will be covered by the central government under Poland's civil defence and population protection programme, with the remainder paid from Warsaw's budget, the Polish daily said.
The system is intended to continuously monitor airspace and quickly detect drone activity, shortening the response time for emergency services.
City spokeswoman Monika Beuth told Gazeta Wyborcza that reports of drone sightings have so far relied mainly on eyewitness accounts.
The system will cover central Warsaw, including several key government sites.
Jarosław Misztal, head of the city's security centre did not provide a detailed list but said protected areas include government buildings, the houses of parliament and City Hall.
The purchase comes amid a growing number of incidents involving unidentified objects entering protected airspace, according to Gazeta Wyborcza.
