European countries have seen extremely high temperatures during June and July, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency has reported.
In the Netherlands, Wednesday, July 24, has been reported as “the hottest day ever,” with the mercury hitting 39.1 degrees Celsius in the country’s southern city of Gilze-Rijen, according to news website Dutchreview.
That same day Germany recorded a new highest-ever temperature, with 40.5 degrees Celsius in its western city of Geilenkirchen, near the country’s borders with Belgium and the Netherlands.
France set a new record temperature in late June, with an exhausting 46 degrees in Vérargues in the country's south, the BBC reported on Thursday.
