Commemorations will include a parade in Warsaw on August 15, while military, cultural and religious events will be held around the country, state news agency PAP reported.
Referring to the 1920 Battle of Warsaw, Błaszczak said: “For Poland, which was being born anew after years of captivity, it was a special moment. In the hour of our trial, the entire nation stood up to fight to defend its hard-won freedom."
The landmark battle was part of the Polish-Soviet War of 1919-1921. Often described as the “Miracle of the Vistula,” it is believed to have saved Poland’s newly regained independence after the end of World War I and prevented the Bolshevik revolution from spreading into western Europe.
The 1920 battle has been listed among the most important battles that have decided the fate of the world.
