Meanwhile, 42,000 doses of a coronavirus vaccine developed by US biotechnology company Moderna were delivered to Poland on Sunday, said the head of the country's Material Reserves Agency, Michał Kuczmierowski.
The delivery had been originally scheduled for last Tuesday but was cancelled by Moderna, the Polish Prime Minister's top aide Michał Dworczyk said.
Future deliveries
It remains unclear when Poland can expect the first delivery of the Oxford University/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, although Kuczmierowski identified February 9 as the probable date.
Overall, it is expected that in February Poland will receive some 500,000 doses of the AstraZeneca jab, which was approved by the EU regulator on Friday.
Last Wednesday, the country's health minister said that Poland had ordered 85 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines in total, with nearly 50 million of the jabs from pharmaceutical firms Pfizer and Moderna.
So far, a total of 1,156,931 coronavirus vaccine shots have been administered nationwide, according to data released by the Polish health ministry.
