Of the new cases confirmed on Wednesday, 6,092 were in the southern coal mining region of Silesia.
Meanwhile, 4,813 new infections were reported in the central region of Mazowieckie, which includes the national capital Warsaw.
The western province of Wielkopolskie, which is home to the major city of Poznań, had the third-highest number of new infections confirmed by officials on Wednesday, at 3,695.
The latest deaths in Poland’s coronavirus outbreak are 502 people with pre-existing medical conditions and 151 who died directly because of COVID-19, the Polish health ministry said.
On Tuesday, Poland confirmed 461 deaths and 20,870 new coronavirus infections nationwide, compared with 48 deaths and 16,965 fresh cases a day earlier.
On Friday, March 26, the Polish health ministry confirmed 35,143 new single-day cases, the most since the pandemic hit the country last March.
On November 25, the country reported its highest daily toll of 674 deaths related to the coronavirus.
Poland's first case of coronavirus infection was reported on March 4, 2020.
31,311 in hospitals, 449,126 quarantined
The health ministry announced on Wednesday morning that 31,311 COVID-19 patients were in hospitals nationwide, 3,093 of them on ventilators, with a further 449,126 people quarantined for possible coronavirus exposure.
Meanwhile, 1,861,925 people have now recovered from COVID-19 throughout the country, including 13,726 over the last 24 hours, the health ministry also said.
