Poland confirms 2,525 new coronavirus cases, 37 more deaths

Poland on Monday reported 2,525 new coronavirus infections and 37 more deaths, bringing the country's total number of cases during the pandemic to 2,805,756 and fatalities to 68,105.

Of the new cases confirmed on Monday, 377 were in the densely populated southern coal-mining region of Silesia.

Meanwhile, 366 new infections were reported in the central region of Mazowieckie, which includes the national capital Warsaw.

The latest deaths in Poland’s coronavirus outbreak are 23 people with pre-existing medical conditions and 14 who died directly because of COVID-19, the Polish health ministry said.

On Sunday, Poland confirmed 4,612 new coronavirus infections and 144 more deaths.

On April 8, the country reported its highest daily toll of 954 deaths related to the coronavirus.

On April 1, the Polish health ministry confirmed 35,251 new single-day cases, the most since the pandemic hit the country more than a year ago.

Poland's first case of coronavirus infection was reported on March 4, 2020.

20,974 in hospitals, 141,992 quarantined

The health ministry announced on Monday morning that 20,974 COVID-19 patients were in hospitals nationwide, 2,593 of them on ventilators, with a further 141,992 people quarantined for possible coronavirus exposure.

Meanwhile, 2,529,844 people have now recovered from COVID-19 throughout the country, including 8,881 over the last 24 hours, the health ministry also said.
