Poland reports 406 new coronavirus cases, 13 more deaths

Poland on Tuesday reported 406 new coronavirus infections and 13 more deaths related to COVID-19, bringing the country's total number of cases during the pandemic to 2,891,071 and fatalities to 75,392.

Of the new cases confirmed on Tuesdaythe most—54—were in the central Mazowieckie province, which includes the capital Warsaw.

The latest deaths in Poland’s coronavirus outbreak are 12 people with pre-existing medical conditions and one other person who died directly because of COVID-19, the health ministry said.

On Monday, Poland confirmed no deaths and 183 new coronavirus infections nationwide.

On April 8the country reported its highest daily toll of 954 deaths related to the coronavirus.

On April 1, the Polish health ministry confirmed 35,251 new single-day cases, the most since the pandemic hit the country early last year.

Poland's first case of coronavirus infection was reported on March 4, 2020.

570 in hospitals, 58,516 quarantined

The Polish health ministry announced on Tuesday morning that 570 COVID-19 patients were in hospitals nationwide, 63 of them on ventilators, with a further 58,516 people quarantined for possible coronavirus exposure.

Meanwhile, 2,657,702 people have now recovered from COVID-19 throughout the country, the health ministry also said.

Officials have warned that the number of COVID-19 infections in the country could rise in the weeks ahead as the Delta variant of the coronavirus begins to spread more quickly.

Health Minister Adam Niedzielski said last week that the daily number of new coronavirus infections in the country could reach 1,000 by the end of September and then rise to 5,000 by late October.
