Senior figures in Law and Justice (PiS), Poland’s governing conservative party, held a three-hour meeting on Monday afternoon to discuss the results of party leader Jarosław Kaczyński’s talks with junior coalition partners, the PAP news agency reported.

It said one of the politicians present at the meeting told it “the plan is for the new ministers to be unveiled by the middle of next week.”

Meanwhile, the government’s spokesman, Piotr Müller, told public broadcaster Polish Radio last week that the changes would be “cosmetic” and involve "a few" fresh faces.

He added that Morawiecki would first present the new appointments to President Andrzej Duda.

The new member of the ruling coalition, the Republican Party, led by MEP Adam Bielan, is set to have two Cabinet ministers, according to the PAP news agency.

The ruling United Right coalition has been preparing the reshuffle ever since Jarosław Gowin’s Agreement party left the government this summer.

In the new-look coalition, Law and Justice and its junior partner, the strongly conservative United Poland party (Solidarna Polska), may be joined not only by the Republicans, but also a parliamentary grouping led by Deputy Defence Minister Marcin Ociepa, PAP reported.
