The figure is roughly the same as in 2021 and 2022, according to a draft decree by the defence ministry, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
The defence ministry plans to call up some 38,000 reserve soldiers, ex-soldiers and people with military training, according to officials.
A further 28,580 people will be called up from among those undergoing voluntary basic military service, the PAP news agency reported.
Col. Mirosław Bryś, who heads Poland’s Main Military Recruitment Centre (CWCR), told a media briefing: “We are calling up mainly people in so-called passive reserve, particularly those who have undergone military service.”
He added that the training would take up to two weeks, during which reservists would be "familiarised with advanced military technology" and new weapons currently being introduced to various army units.
“We will also invite a small number of people without previous military training,” Bryś said, adding that this category comprised those who had been declared fit for military service but had had no prior involvement with the army.
He said this group would number some 3,000 people and include doctors, nurses and drivers, according to the dorzeczy.pl website.
They will be offered a two-day training programme to be completed over a weekend, the PAP news agency reported.
