"President Andrzej Duda has appointed Robert Telus to serve as minister of agriculture and rural development at the request of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki,” the Polish Prime Minister's Office said in a Twitter post.
Telus, until now chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development, replaces Henryk Kowalczyk, who resigned on Wednesday amid protests by farmers over an influx of Ukrainian grain and its impact on prices, state news agency PAP reported.
The new Polish agriculture minister is a farmer by training, state broadcaster TVP Info said.
