The bilateral meeting between Poland's Andrzej Duda and Portugal's Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa began at the presidential palace in Warsaw at around 10:30 a.m. local time, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
Duda and Rebelo de Sousa were set to hold private talks, followed by a meeting of a wider group of officials from both countries, broadcaster TVP Info reported.
The two presidents were due to hold a joint news conference in the early afternoon to brief reporters on the results of their talks on issues including the enlargement of the European Union and support for Ukraine, according to an announcement.
Later on Tuesday, the Portuguese leader was expected to meet with Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and parliamentary Speakers Elżbieta Witek and Tomasz Grodzki, the PAP news agency reported.
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, launching the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.
Tuesday is day 545 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
