"In connection with the global Microsoft systems outage, I am being kept up to date by our services at both the provincial and national levels about all incidents resulting from the outage," Tusk said on the X social media platform.

"So far, they are limited in scope and do not threaten our national security," he added.

The Polish Ministry of Digital Affairs announced that 2,859 cybersecurity threats were reported in Poland over the past 24 hours. Among these, 378 new incidents were identified and are currently being addressed, the ministry said.

'Windows system failure, not a hacking attack'

"We are dealing with a Windows system failure, not a hacking attack," said Paweł Olszewski, a deputy minister for digitization.

Earlier, Digital Affairs Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski told reporters that Polish cybersecurity authorities were monitoring the situation.

Although flights and connections were being canceled or delayed worldwide due to the outage, and booking and purchasing tickets, as well as checking in online, was often impossible, Poland was largely unaffected by the tech disruptions, according to reports.

The Central IT Center reported that state systems in Poland were not threatened by the Microsoft outage.

"We rely on our own independent infrastructure rather than on cloud systems provided by tech giants," it said.

According to Gawkowski, the problem may be related to Microsoft system overlays.

"Everything indicates that we are dealing with disruptions on computers running Microsoft Windows due to overlays provided by Microsoft's service provider," he told public broadcaster Polish Radio. "They were simply poorly implemented," he added.

Microsoft's service administration center announced that users might experience issues accessing various applications and services, including Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Fabric and the Microsoft 365 admin center.

The company said it was taking corrective actions, citing a configuration change on the Azure cloud platform that disrupted communication between storage and compute resources, leading to connectivity failures in dependent Microsoft 365 services.

The cybersecurity team CERT Poland said that the ongoing global cyber outage, which started on Friday morning, affected Windows systems that use CrowdStrike tools.
