In the program "Sygnały dnia" on Radio One, Trzaskowski noted that on the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising, its message is particularly relevant in the context of current events beyond Poland's eastern border.

According to the politician, the ideals of the insurgents are timeless and contributed positively to post-war reconstruction despite their disagreement with communism.

Trzaskowski appreciated the significance of the words spoken by German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who, in his Wednesday speech in Warsaw, asked Poles for forgiveness.

"The request for forgiveness is primarily directed towards the insurgents themselves, as they are the ones who might be able to forgive. We cannot do it on their behalf," the Mayor of Warsaw stated.

The Mayor also underscored the value of the insurgents' heroism and their efforts in rebuilding the country, emphasizing their resilience, solidarity, and determination, and mentioned his own family's sacrifice during the uprising.
