The head of the ministry, Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz, said that thanks to this move Poland has applied for a maximum possible amount so far, closing in on 10 billion Euro in total:
"These are huge funds that we will invest next year. Our clear goal is for these funds to flow into Poland under the Christmas tree - and this will be another record transfer from the European Union."
A significant part of the requested resources will be allocated to the projects regarding thermal efficiency of housing:
"In this aspect, we target single-family and multi-family houses. Other areas include the modernization and construction of railway lines - and the broadly understood food security of Poland. The latter program is primarily the investment in small and medium-sized agricultural enterprises - but also appropriate investments in food storage, shortening the way to the table from the farm. Last but not least, very large funds from the National Recovery Plan will go to the modernization of hospitals next year."
Minister Pełczyńska-Nałęcz hopes that this is not the end, and that before the end of this year it will be possible to submit further applications - the fourth and fifth - which will unlock yet another batch of funds for Poland.
The National Recovery Plan is the financial plan of the European Union for reconstruction after the COVID-19 pandemic. The money awarded in the form of grants and loans goes to individual member states.
