Fatal fire in Warsaw: one dead, 40 people evacuated

A serious fire early Tuesday morning in a tenement building on Miedziana Street in Warsaw's Wola district resulted in one confirmed death, believed to be a homeless individual, and prompted the evacuation of 40 residents.

Around 6 a.m., the fire broke out, and eight fire crews responded to the scene, according to Bogdan Smoter from the capital's fire department.

Authorities verified the discovery of a man's body, which was likely that of someone seeking warmth in an uninhabited attic.

The fire erupted in a building on Miedziana Street in Wola. Eight fire crews were working at the scene.

As reported by the Voivodeship Ambulance Service Meditrans in Warsaw via social media, one person died in the flames.

The remains were identified in the building, from which 40 people were evacuated. The body likely belongs to a homeless individual who was trying to keep warm in an uninhabited attic.
