He also expressed gratitude to both U.S. presidential candidates for their supportive remarks about Poland and reaffirming the U.S.-Polish alliance.

Preliminary election results indicate that Republican candidate Donald Trump is close to defeating Democrat Kamala Harris, potentially returning to the White House after a four-year absence.

“The American people have made their decision, which we respect. The value of Poland’s foreign policy—maintaining ties with both Democrats and Republicans—has been reaffirmed,” Sikorski stated during a morning briefing.

He thanked both candidates for their kind words regarding Poland and for underscoring the strength of the alliance between the two nations.

“I am in ongoing contact with the highest security representatives in Donald Trump’s camp,” Sikorski assured.

Poland’s chief diplomat also emphasized that Europe “must urgently take greater responsibility for its own security.” He highlighted Poland’s defense spending and migration policy decisions as proactive steps in line with those other allies are only beginning to consider. Sikorski expressed confidence that, with renewed credibility in the EU and strong U.S. relations, Poland will lead the effort to bolster EU resilience.
